WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER
FAMILY TREE DATABASE: The core of the Knottingley Family History Database is our comprehensive Family Tree program. With more than 21,000 individuals already featured and more individuals being added all the time, you can quickly view relationships between local families, trace your own ancestry, and perhaps suggest additional information that we can add. If your own family are not yet listed then why not consider sending us the information you already have so that we can add it to our database and attempt to link members of your family tree to associated records already contained on our database.
On the 31st July 2010 our Family Tree comprised:
- Individuals: 22,175
- Families: 4,824
- Unique Surnames: 1,555
- Photographs: 85
- Memorial Stones: 1,452 (Including 555 photographs)
- News Reports: 149
It may interest you to know that the average lifespan of all the individuals recorded on our family tree is 51 years and 150 days.
FAMILY RECORDS DATABASE: A supplementary database currently containing records of marriages and deaths/burials, from our own copies of local transcriptions, often with additional information to that which is currently available elsewhere. Our burials database is even searchable by grave number (where grave numbers have been accurately recorded) meaning you can now identify all those individuals who were laid to rest in the same grave. Whenever possible, our records of marriages contain details of both the bride and grooms father and his occupation and in some cases the names of witnesses to the marriage. Our memorial inscriptions have either been recorded by ourselves, (and where possible they include photographs taken by us at the time of transcription), or from the transcriptions made over recent years by local enthusiast Ron Gosney. If we have the information available then we will make it available to you.

LOCAL HISTORY ARTICLES: We have a number of local history articles to publish on the website and these will be made available as quickly as possible. Our first featured article, 'The Carter Family of Lime Grove', is now available in our members area. At the present time all our efforts are concentrated on compiling the family tree database but our local history articles section will be added to as time and resources permits.
FUTURE ADDITIONS: Whenever we can obtain additional information this will be made available to our registered members as quickly as possible. Of interest to many visitors will be the inclusion of a comprehensive account of the Wooden Sailing Ships built in the town of Knottingley, supplied courtesy of local enthusiast Mr. Ron Gosney. A small number of these records are now available in our members area with several hundred more to follow. Our collection of local Inquest Reports, previously featured on our Knottingley website, has now been transferred to the members area of the Knottingley Family History site.
The design and format of the Knottingley Family History website is constantly under review and we will endeavour to implement as many facilities as possible to enable you to not only access our records but also to receive assistance, either directly from ourselves or via contact directly with other members. We would like to think that through your membership of our website you will meet new friends and interact with members who have a mutual interest in your own particular family history research.
Above all else, your continued support of our website will enable us to continue to make this information available. The town of Knottingley is already blessed with a very informative website relating its local history at www.knottingley.org and the addition of the Knottingley Family History database means we are now able to offer what we consider to be one of the most comprehensive sources of information available for any town of comparable size and status within the United Kingdom.
With membership fees available from just £3.33 per month it is fully deserving of everyone's support so please consider registering today to receive instant access.
