WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE KNOTTINGLEY FAMILY HISTORY DATABASE WEBSITE?
To ease any concerns that any visitors might have, the Knottingley Family History Database website (and the associated YorkshireAncestry.co.uk domain) are the responsibility of myself, Michael Norfolk, and form part of a collection of local community websites dedicated to the Knottingley and Pontefract area of West Yorkshire, England. It may offer a degree of reassurance to learn that I have been actively compiling these local history websites for a period in excess of ten years and that the Knottingley and Ferrybridge Online website has been available online since May 2000.

WHY IS THE COST OF A 7 or 30 DAY MEMBERSHIP SO EXPENSIVE?
We would like to think that after all the time and effort that has gone into making this website available, a fee of £10 for 30 days unrestricted access would not be considered expensive at all. The cost of our 7 and 30-day membership reflects the intensive usage that short-term membership accounts tend to incur and so in an attempt to offset this we are offering extremely affordable rates for members who choose to support our work in the long-term by taking out a 6-month or annual membership. Longer term memberships are much less of a strain on server resources meaning that the best possible performance is available to all members.

DOES MY FAMILY NAME FEATURE ON YOUR DATABASE?
This is a question I am asked often, so to assist you I have now included a Surname Listing page which will be updated at intervals but might not always reflect a true listing of all the names, and the number of individuals with that name, who are featured on our database. New individuals are added to our database each week so do check the date of publication of the list. If your family name isn't featured then why not decide to work with us and send us as much information about your family as you can and we will do our very best to ensure that your family IS included and we will endeavour to expand your family tree for you wherever this is possible.

WHAT INFORMATION WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO?
At the present time all members will have unrestricted access to all areas of our website, regardless of the duration of their membership. It may be that in the near future some of our previously published articles will be made available only to annual members but our website will be updated to reflect any changes we might make. I believe it is important to repay the support and loyalty of our regular members and to ensure that after the support they have given me that it shouldn't be possible for someone to come along and take everything we provide in a single month. I doubt that everyone will share my views on this but whatever the situation in the future, access to our Family Trees and Family Records will remain open to every member regardless of their membership term.

CAN I ADD MY OWN FAMILY HISTORY TO YOUR WEBSITE?
At the present time there are no facilities for members to add their own information to any of our databases and there are no immediate plans to implement that facility in the future. We do offer a 'members family tree' website where you can register free of charge to add your own family tree using the same software that we currently use on this website which may be of interest to you.

Alternatively, as a registered member you can use the suggest buttons available on every individuals details page to inform us of additions or amendments to any of the information we have available.
