It's been six months since the surname listing page was last updated and during that time more than 3,000 new individuals have been added to the Knottingley family tree. I have updated that listing today with an A-Z listing of the 1,270+ surnames available so you can check to see how your family name features on our family tree.

To better reflect what the site is all about, Digest Family History is to become Knottingley Family History and to mark the change of identity the website has a completely new look. No more will you need seperate log-in's to access our forum - the new site uses a single log-in to give you access to everything you have become accustomed to so far as well as a whole host of other enhancements.

The new site uses a 'community' program/script so each member has their own profile and can connect with 'friends' (other members) who have similar interests. Each members also has their own blog and can upload photographs to their own photo albums to share with other members. Now, not only can you view our wealth of family history records and information but you can also help contribute to the content and overall interest of the site yourself, making it more attractive and appealing for everyone.

If you have any interest in Knottingley Family History or Knottingley History or even simply Knottingley in general, then why not consider joining us and becoming part of our 'community'. And yes, that does include Ferrybridge too!

Having spent some long hours getting the new site ready I have to say that I am delighted with how it has worked out and how the site looks in general and even though there are one or two insignificant disadvantages to be overcome in the way the family tree is displayed this may not even be apparent to many members but it will eventually be remedied when a new 'component' is eventually released.

I have just completed entering Knottingley Cemetery burial records from the 1950's which are now fully complete. On the whole this batch has proved to be somewhat easier than previous batches but you may still find the occasional error. This takes our burial records to more than 5,000 records and if you care to search the database by grave number you will discover whole families now grouped together.

Search for your family members and check grave numbers to ensure that everyone that should be present in a particular grave is actually listed. If anything is amiss then please let me know so that I can rectify it as quickly as possible.

I will be continuing with the burials database soon but I really do need a break from it for a while!

You may have noticed that the number of records in our Marriages Database has increased greatly over the past few days. With so many individual records to add to the website it's often the case that I include a little bit of everything but this time I have dedicated my time solely to marriages and I have now entered details (full details in the majority of cases) of more than 5,000 local marriages. I still have a few more to include which I will be completing later today and then I can begin work on another little project.

If you notice any errors in any of the marriage listings or can supply any additional information then do get in touch so that I can amend any records as quickly as possible.

I have just begun adding more marriage records from Christ Church, Knottingley, to the marriages database. These new additions cover the years 1887-1918 and like the majority of our marriage records they are complete with fathers names, occupations and the names of witnesses to each marriage. In total there are another 500 records to add, of which 88 have been completed this evening. I will include the remainder as quickly as possible.
